Privacy policy
This policy describes how mdlibri handles information when you browse the catalogue. mdlibri does not sell books and does not ask catalogue visitors to create an account.
Who operates the site
mdlibri is operated independently as a book catalogue. Questions about this policy can be sent through the contact page.
Information stored on your device
The catalogue keeps a few preferences in your browser’s local storage so they survive a refresh. They are not sent to the mdlibri server as a profile:
- Theme, if you choose light or dark mode.
- The country you select, which sets currency and store links.
- Books you mark as saved.
- A cached copy of exchange rates, used only to display prices.
You can remove this information at any time by clearing site data for mdlibri in your browser. Doing so resets those preferences.
Information the server sees
Like most websites, the server receives the technical details needed to answer a request, including your IP address, the page requested, and the time of the request. Those details are written to the server log so the site can be operated and faults can be investigated. They are not used to build a marketing profile and they are not sold.
mdlibri does not use third-party analytics or advertising cookies on the catalogue.
Cookies
Catalogue visitors are not given a cookie. A cookie named bs_admin is set only after someone signs in to the private admin area. It is HttpOnly, limited to this site, and expires after 12 hours or when that person signs out. It is not used to track readers.
When you leave for a store
“Buy now” links open Amazon or, where a listing says so, another retailer. From that point the store’s own privacy policy applies. Those sites may set their own cookies and may know that you arrived from mdlibri because the link contains an affiliate tracking ID. mdlibri does not receive your payment details, delivery address, or Amazon account information.
Children
The catalogue is a general reading list. It is not directed at children, it does not ask for a child’s personal information, and it does not create visitor accounts.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
